Overnight Moves

Today, we looked at 13 charts; below are only a few. Join us in the morning call on Discord to see it all. Let’s have a look at the overnight moves. Today, we open to a weaker rand, as well as weakness in gold and silver. This comes as a follow-up to yesterday’s news of Iran launching missiles at U.S. ships, which has also driven up the oil price again. We expect today to be a somewhat quiet, wait-and-see session, as the Chinese and Japanese markets remain closed and there are no clear indications of where the current bout of escalation is headed.

GameStop (GME) And eBay (EBAY)

GameStop’s shares have dropped to below $24. This comes as a result of interviews, where the company’s CEO, Ryan Cohen, failed to disclose where the finances for the eBay acquisitions would come from. We also have doubts that eBay would accept such a takeover for $125 per share. For now, we believe that the situation is worth keeping an eye on for the next few days.

Palantir (PLTR)

Palantir Technologies saw a market rally before its earnings yesterday, but most of its gains were lost. This comes after the company beat expectations on its earnings and revenue. We intend to keep an eye on the company, with its lowest expected range set at the $130 mark.

Earnings

Today has more than a few earnings worth noting on both before and after hours. Below is a listed few, starting with the pre-market earnings.

PayPal (PYPL)

PayPal is a payment processing tech company. It’s listed on both the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ-100 indices.

Pfizer (PFE)

Pfizer is a pharmaceutical multinational, with its earnings scheduled for the premarket today. The company saw a massive boost in share values during COVID, but it hasn’t moved a lot in recent history.

Fiserv (FISV)

Fiserv is a U.S. based financial tech company that specialises in processing transactions. The company’s earnings’ scheduled for the pre-market today, and we intend to keep an eye on it, in case it becomes a turning point.

AMD (AMD)

Advanced Micro Devices, or AMD, is one of the world’s largest companies in the microchip and A.I. market. Its earnings are scheduled for the after-market today.

Super Micro Computer (SMCI)

Super Micro Computer, or Supermicro, is a hardware manufacturing tech company. The company’s shares dropped by $10, or roughly 30%, on the 20th of March following a change in executives. It appears to have mostly recovered since then. The company’s earnings are scheduled for the after-market.
